Alexander is the main character of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (1990 film). Throughout the whole day, Alexander seems to be having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad. He doesn't get a surprise in the cereal box, his teacher doesn't like his invisible castle or his singing, his friends don't want him to play monkey in the middle, he doesn't get the pair of sneakers he wanted and he can't find his purple glow-in-the-dark yoyo. But eventually, towards the end, after his long day, he finally finds his purple yoyo and realizes that having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, will happen sometimes.
